Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th in 1972. Her family was however raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at an area college. Desiring to follow his father's path, she graduated with an engineering degree in chemical technology. But because she wanted to follow her dream of becoming an actress, she moved to New York to try her luck in the movies. Her Broadway performances were followed by a job at a local restaurant. She played a minor role on "Felicity" (where she also came into contact with Scott Foley). Garner got her breakthrough with the action-thriller "Alias." The actress's first main role as a lead actress was on the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film, and they continued to look for other projects until Winick's passing away in the year 2011. Garner was appointed ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. This role involves encouraging nutrition and literacy across the US, as well as early schooling. Garner was a member on the organization's board since 2014, has been an advocate for the cause of early learning. As a spokesperson, she travels often with the families who belong to Early Steps to School Success, a program that coaches parents on ways to support youngsters in their learning.
