April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons, sparking her love for songwriting. April Lockhart penned her first single"Different" when she was 12 years old. When she was 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing and honed her musicianship ability. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY as well as LA. April also added additional themes to the song "Take My Hand" for a few of her acquaintances who faced issues such as peer pressurization issues, or even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is a popular figure and also works as a lifestyle blogger at the popular Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. She has a disability that is a component of her identity, but it is not the whole picture. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability in her posts on Instagram, however she isn't making it the focal point of it. The message? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart said via video that she didn't want to be defined by her physical disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are many aspects of Lockhart. It doesn't impact my everyday life. I still do all the things I normally would and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. It's a big part of my life, so it is important to discuss the subject. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to acceptance of oneself. However, she admits to going through periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance and wearing clothing with arms. It's her choice to wear what she'd like, and proudly shares photos of her in these outfits. It's a journey is what I'm not certain that you ever arrive she says of self-love. This is a process, and I'm sure that you never reach your destination. I think it's important to surround yourself with those who can identify and feel your heart.
